This article describes how to locate, select and download the statistics from data-feeds delivered to Mediabank.
Note! The example in this article is describing the retrieval of match statistics from a soccer game.
The Data-feed contains a pre-defined set of statistics related to a match. When the data feed is received in Mediabank the data is stored in a dedicated database. To retrieve the statistics from a match, Mediabank uses the match-Id as its common denominator to group additional clips, Events, Statistics and so forth logically together.
However, users do not need to obtain or remember the match-Id to retrieve all the available data/statistics/clips/events from Mediabank. All the available data is easily accessible from the pre-configured Tabs in the title module (described later in the article).
How to locate Data Feed Statistics
Locating match statistics from a soccer game is visually very easy since they can be identified by its distinct appearance in Mediabank. Looking at the example image below, their infographics or "thumb" is easy to locate based on their distinct graphics.
It is also easy to find statistics for a match by using the search query. The most specific search criteria are done by using unique match-Id. Mediabank will return all available data related to this specific match. A more general search can be done by using phrases like "data feeds" or "match data". Searching for Torino FC will return the Media content related to that club, but it will also return the statistics if present in the Mediabank database.
Select one of the infographics thumbs (or a match) and go to the "Asset properties" workspace (WS 3). Mediabank will automatically prepare all the available and additional data/media content linked to the same match-Id.
Looking at the below image, this article does not describe existing Tabs in the Title module but focus on the new Tab named "Data" that is implemented.
The new Tab contains the statistics retrieved from the Data-feed during a match. The Tab holds two main data statistics topics. Match & Statistics data.
Selecting one of the topics will reveal the specific match statistics available as described below:
- Match team statistics extended
- Match player statistics extended
- Match team statistics summary
- Match player statistics summary
- Match information
- Match events
- Match line-ups
- Pre-match information
How to extract and download the statistics
If the user needs the above specific statistics for further preparation it is easy to extract and download the data. Simply click on the Action menu button in the Title module and locate the new "Datafeeds" entry. In the below example, the user can download it as a JSON or XML format but CSV format is also supported and will be available if configured.
Note!
The Datafeed download will always select the statistics from the active "asset". To select and download statistics for "Match events", the user must first ensure the "asset" is active (visible in the player window). If not, select the "Match Data" topic from the Data Tab and then select "Match events" to make it active. The Action menu Datafeed will then retrieve the correct statistics from the database, convert it to the chosen format and download it.
Selecting the "Download JSON" entry will simply open the download window and propose a name
like: Datafeed - 2028050 - Match team statistics summary.json and suggest the default download destination. Click ok to download it.
