The Library Application
The library is a web application that provides access to your valuable content through a low-resolution copy (proxy) that is always online.
The Mediabank Library application offers safe and reliable storage for your assets. It holds your original hi-resolution media content safe and surveyed on secure spinning disks.
The articles refer to "Asset" or "Media file". It is actually the same "Media content", but the industry you are in, use them both, so they are both present in the Mediabank articles. However, Mediabank also supports office-type files, these are never referred to as media files. Media content can also be referred to as "clips". Clips are short captures from your media content focusing on specific highlights or events from any match, game or similar.

- Search module
- Search, how to use the search function.
- Saved searches article contains information about Search in general and the pre-defined "Saved searches" you can create to work more efficiently.
- Projects, similar to Saved searches, but has a more "manual" approach to add assets. Simply select the files, add them to your project, and you are done. No rules or search parameters needed.
- Header module, common for all applications (Except AdEx)
- Title module
- Player module

Thumb view vs List view (Workspace 1 & 2)
In the image below, the default view in the Library application is presented. Many users prefer to see the asset listed with a larger poster window than a list view. However, with thousands of assets in the library, you might find it cumbersome to scroll through them all to locate your asset(s). Especially if you are looking for several assets. But, combined with the search and filter functions, the thumb view may be the choice for you.
Below, you see two half windows illustrating the difference between the Thumb view (upper image) and the list view. The advantage list view can provide is sorting asset by date, title or any other metadata of your choice.
Storage and backup
When a user locates an asset in the Mediabank MaM (Media Asset Management) solution, it is a proxy that is visible to the user. The reasons are several, a proxy is much faster to load into the media player if the user wishes to view it, and viewing and loading a proxy also secures that the original asset remains untampered with. (A proxy is a copy of the original with lower bandwidth)
Since the workspaces only display the proxies, the original asset could be at a different storage location.
Mediabank utilizes several types of storage solutions:
- High-Velocity storage space
- High-Density storage space
- Amazon Glacier optional storage space (Not for Basic price plan customers)
- Amazon Deep Glacier optional backup space (Not for Basic price plan customers)
High-velocity storage - A high-speed storage, enabling instant access to all your Media content. Enabling services like Review & Approval, Live ingest, Automation, M-boxes and Proxy files for archive browsing, etc. The basic customer gets 1 TB included in their monthly fee. Professional and Enterprise customers may need considerable more when utilizing additional services as Live or File Ingest.
High-density storage - When your media content no longer has the "top market" value, you may move them to a high-density storage service with reduced bandwidth/speed resulting in a certain amount of delay in retrieval time, but the upside is storage at a lower cost.
Amazon Glacier storage space - This is an alternative to the Mediabank High-Density storage. Customers may achieve storage at a lower cost, but the retrieval cost is higher.
AWS Deep Glacier Backup - A low-cost choice of a backup solution when using Mediabank could be the Amazon Deep Glacier. Due to its very long retrieval/extraction times, it is unsuitable for day to day business.
