"Attachments" is a simple and efficient way to add additional types of information to a primary asset. For example, a user can now add scripts, project plans, location videos, office documents, etc., to the primary asset.
"Attachments" is available from Library only and can be initiated from the title module's (above the media player in W3) action menu (1) (hamburger menu).
Requirements using the Attachment feature
The Attachment feature is included in every Mediabank license from Basic to Enterprise and managed on the user level.
Be aware that the attachment feature is not default configured during account setup but made available upon request by the client.
The requirement needed for a user to utilize the Attachment feature is an additional role in their user profile. The required profile role is "Upload Attachment" and is maintained by the client's local admin.
How to add an attachment
It is only possible to add an attachment using the "add attachment" from the Asset properties workspace (W3). In addition, the attachment must be linked to a primary (main) asset.
To add an attachment, the user must first select a primary (main) asset (1) as shown in the below image and then click the W3 shortcut button (2). The chosen asset will load into the player, and the user is forwarded to the Asset properties workspace (W3).
It is also possible to go directly to the Asset property (W3) workspace and then select the main asset from the asset list to the left of the mediaplayer before uploading the attachment.
Note!
Currently, it is not possible to assign an asset already present in Library as an attachment. Instead, the attachment must be uploaded using the action menu that retrieves the new asset (attachment) from the user's machine/server to obtain the correct metadata.
It is only possible to add an attachment from the Asset properties (1) workspace. Once the main asset is selected (loaded into the mediaplayer), click the action menu (2) and locate the "Attachments" (3) entry.
Select it with one mouse click. An attachment sub-menu appears. Only the "Add attachment" (4) choice appears if the main asset has no previous attachments. Select it.
A dialog menu opens, revealing the user's local files. The user selects the desired attachment file and clicks Ok/Open. A new "Attachment" window, as shown below, appears. The user can, if desired, modify the proposed Title (1) retrieved from the original filename and create a Subtitle (2) to enhance the attachment information further.
It is also possible to select an Attachment type (3). Currently, three options are available as an attachment type:
- Radio Files = Could be voice over or other voice recordings.
- Document = general office documents or scripts etc.
- No selection = The user did not select a category.
When the attachment type is selected, press "Upload" (4).
As shown below, the unspecified attachments are listed first, then the attachment type Radio Files followed by Documents. Finally, the specified attachment types appear in their respective sub-menus.
The user must upload attachments one by one.
The user can upload, download and delete the attachments from the attachments menu.
Note!
It is not possible to view or play the attachment in Mediabank. Instead, the user must download the attachment to edit, play, or view it.

All AdEx approved file extensions are supported as Attachments. Attachments are automatically assigned to the category: "attachment."
What if a user deletes an asset that has attachments?
If the main asset is deleted, the attachment will still exist in Library. If the attachment is of no interest, go to W1 or W2 search in the category "attachment," locate the asset (attachment) and delete it with the same procedure as any other assets.
Notification from Mediabank.
When the attachment is successfully uploaded, the user will receive a notification by SMS or Email.
