Planning, preparation, and production of media content require a platform that enables structured and efficient handling of assets (media files).
Unlike the Library application, where all assets (media content) are visible to the user by default, the Review & approval user only sees the assets ready for review and the assets undergoing a review.
Client advantage
It is easy to define users or groups to specific tasks based on Mediabank's robust metadata handling. The result is minimum work distraction when using the "personal" Tasks list to reveal the relevant content and metadata for their work.
The review process can be implemented without "the big bang" risk but be configured to align today's implemented processes and gradually evolve into fully automated workflows.
The broadcaster can configure a status change on the media content in combination with specific metadata to trigger a new workflow for further actions.
Asset status
There are several status symbols in use during the review process. The blue star indicates a new incoming asset that has not yet started the review process. Once a user loads it in the mediaplayer and starts making annotations, the status symbol will change to an orange eye indicating that the review process is in progress.
The thumbs up/down are symbols for Approved or Rejected. However, dependent on the implemented workflow, these symbols are not always visible to the user since an approval often removes the asset from the worklist and "transfers" the asset to the Library or Compliance for its final review.
The final symbols are just warnings that the deadline for approval is near.
The image below shows a typical worklist. The heading (yellow highlight) enables the user to see the asset's present status and timeframe quickly:
------------------------------------------------------------
R - Indicates the assets revision.
S - The assets status (explained later in this article)
Title - The asset's main Title
EP -
On Air - The assets planned Broadcast-date/time.
------------------------------------------------------------
In addition, Mediabank also reveals the assets Category to help the user identify the asset's belongings. Men's football (Sport) and Mobile upload. The Mobile upload category could be media content from site preparations or similar. The categories are user-defined and could be created by entering an informative category name as a category while uploading. The category will cease to exist when no assets use that category.
Note that the client's preferences dictate the worklist's look and functionality.
